The Process
Our method of application for block paving includes a simple six step process. Following this allows us to concentrate on getting each stage exactly right. Here’s how we do it:
1
Excavation – remove 50mm-100mm of turf usually with, depending on ground conditions, a turf cutter.
2
Wooden baton framing – if required, install 50x25mm treated wooden battens around the perimeter, and around any flower beds inside the fitting area. The artificial grass will be secured to these once the base is prepared.
3
Aggregate 1 – fill the area with MOT Type 1 crushed rock to a depth of about 30mm (approximately 2 inches), which we then compact using a vibration plate.
4
Weed membrane – this is applied over the crushed rock.
5
Aggregate 2 – sharp sand (approximately 1-1.5 inch) is used to cover the weed membrane, so that the base height is made level with the batons and is then compacted again.
6
Fitting and securing – lay the artificial grass over the completed base and trim the grass as needed. Grass is securely fixed down and all joints are finished, with a final buffering of the grass.
